Broken-Promises.net;
Broken-Promises.net was registered at
Directnic.com
in October of 2001 as a present for my 16th birthday from my brother. However, it didn't
open it's doors until Christmas Day of 2001. B-P.net was hosted for about 2 years at
Ikohn.com. They were reliable and the service
was nice. I couldn't get private FTP accounts for my hostees and other things I wanted to use
for my sites. I decided to move. I was hosted as a reseller on
Netrillium until I had some problems.
I switched to
Surpass Hosting
in 2006 and have been hosted there until April 2009. From there, I moved to
Fan-sites.org. I have had
another site,
BilliePiperFan.com, hosted there since July 2007 and LOVE it and how Gertie treats her hostees. I decided to apply for hosting for
this site as well. I'm so glad she accepted since I couldn't think of a better host!
The name doesn't really mean anything. I wanted a domain and went around and asked people what they thought
was a 'cool' domain name. This one popped up and I fell in love with it. Think, instead of 'broken promises', the other choice
was 'pop-fanatic'. Glad I chose this one, right?
History and Information;
I have been on the web for about 3 and a half years. Broken-Promises.net is my first 'real' site.
Before this I had a couple of mediocre sites, including a Backstreet Boys fanfic/humor site and a
fanlisting. Icky graphics made
from Adobe 4.0(I think..), crappy content, poor feedback. You name it, I had it. I had no idea what
was supposed to go on. I just thought having a domain was the 'cool' thing to do. With this site, I got
to experiment with tons of layout and graphic techniques. I also attained newer and better programs. With this
domain, I got serious about webdesigning and graphics.
When I opened this domain, I made it a Backstreet Boys Related domain. At that point in my life, I was
obsessed with those guys. I had a lot of content and visitor/feedback-type things. After a while of doing this,
I got really tired and bored with the fan-site lifestyle. I also realized that when I updated, I went into detail
about my day that normal fan sites don't do. Bingo! I decided to convert this place into my weblog.
But due to personal reasons, I became insecure about who visited this site and moved it to a different location.
Now, Broken-Promises.net is my personal/collective domain. However, there a several sub sites connected to the domain.
For my layouts, I use
Paint
Shop Pro and
Adobe Photoshop 7.0 for my layouts and graphics. I use Notepad
and
Smart FTP for all my webdesign stuff.
